COVID-19 Updates

Distance Learning Hubs

The health, safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities. With the recently elevated discussion regarding coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) in the news, we want to take a moment to reinforce preventive safety measures and provide you with information on our process and communications.

The Kirtland Local Schools are monitoring the situation and taking guidance from the Lake County General Health District, the Ohio Department of Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control And Prevention (CDC). There is no recommendation to close schools at this time. District leadership is meeting with local health officials Thursday. We will keep our school community informed of any changes to our school plan as necessary.

We encourage our students, staff and families to be mindful of key preventive measures. The CDC offers tips on its website that can be useful in avoiding the spread of this and other illnesses. We also ask that if children are sick, please keep them home from school. Students need to be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to class after any illness.

(March 30, 2020) This afternoon Gov. Mike DeWine extended his order on school closures through the end of the month. Schools will remain closed through May 1, at which time state government and health officials will reevaluate. This means that distance learning for Kirtland Local Schools will continue through that time.

We thank our families and staff for their patience and support during this unique time. Remember, we are all in this together!
