Kirtland Board of Education to Hire Superintendent at July 6 Meeting
The Kirtland Board of Education will be meeting on Monday, July 6, 2020, at 6 p.m. in the Kirtland High School cafeteria for the purpose of hiring a superintendent.  The Board of Education will vote to approve Chad VanArnhem as its superintendent beginning August 1, 2020.  Mr. VanArnhem, a Kirtland resident, has served as the Kirtland Elementary School principal since 2014.  In that role, he has been a critical member of the leadership team that has developed the district’s strategic plan and been integral in moving Kirtland Local Schools forward.

“We are excited that Chad will be leading our district as we work to take it to the next level,” said Jonathan Withrow, president of the Kirtland Board of Education.  “He has demonstrated his commitment to our community and our schools.  He is an outstanding academic leader who will no doubt be an outstanding superintendent of Kirtland Local Schools.”  Mr. VanArnhem previously served as principal of McKinley Elementary and Royalview Elementary in the Willoughby-Eastlake City School District prior to coming to Kirtland Elementary.

The Board of Education began the search process in May after Mr. Bill Wade announced that he would be leaving.  The Board interviewed multiple candidates and engaged various community groups throughout the process.  “We are grateful for all the community input and participation,” said Withrow.  “It was critical in our decision-making process.”
