??Hello KES Families,

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a great weekend and enjoying the Super Bowl. We will not have school tomorrow due to our Teacher Professional Development Day. On Tuesday we will have a PTA meeting in Hornet Hall at 7:00 PM. Please join us if you are able to come.

We are hiring a long term Lunch Monitor Sub and a Latch Key Assistant, please let me know if you are interested.

Report cards will go live on Friday morning at 9:00 AM. Please see the directions below how to access and print your child's report card.

On Wednesday, we have K-Kids after school for the students who are in the club.

Congratulations to the 5th Grade Band. They had a great performance last week at their concert.

We kicked off our Kid Heart Challenge on Thursday. We already have some students who have finished the Finn Challenge. If you have not done so already, please sign up your child for the challenge. Students will be receiving prizes for their participation this week. Our goal is to raise $5000.00. A flyer went home on Friday and there is more information is below. Along with the Kids Heart Challenge this week, we will be celebrating KES Wellness Week- “Love Your Heart”. There will be activities each day at school and home to help promote a healthy heart, wellness, and kindness. Each day we will have a theme to follow:

Tuesday: Wear Purple

Wednesday: Wear a Sports Jersey

Thursday: Wear a Super Hero Shirt

Friday: Wear Red or Blue

This week, Student Council will also be selling Valentine's Day Grams during the lunch periods. Each Valentine's Day Gram will cost $1.00 and will be delivered to classrooms each day. All proceeds collected will go to the American Heart Association.

Registration for Kindergarten is now open for the 2025-2026 school year. Please click the link below to learn more and express your interest in our Kindergarten program.

We received a call from the Visitor's Center about families parking in their lot to drop off and pick up students after school. Please do not park in their lot. There is a lot of traffic flow during arrival and dismissal and we do not want to create an unsafe situation. We appreciate your cooperation in the matter and want to keep all kids safe.

We will be running the "Just Run" program starting in April for students in Grades 3-5. More information will be sent out in a couple of weeks after I attend a meeting for coaches.

Our Hornet Trait focus for February is being Respectful. Students should wear purple on Tuesdays.

The weather outside is getting colder. We will be going outside as much as possible to get fresh air and to move around. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate outside attire. Students need to wear a coat, hat, gloves, and boots during the winter months.

If your child is sick, please keep them home so they can rest, get better, and not spread germs. If students go home sick with a fever or throwing up, they must stay home for 24 hours to make sure they are fully recovered. Please remind your child to wash their hands frequently to help reduce germs. I am also suggesting that students use hand sanitizers before they eat their lunches.

Students are not allowed to bring phones and/or smart watches to school. They can be a distraction and we do not want anything misplaced or lost.

When students visit the nurse, an automated email will be sent to families to let them know when and why the student was in the Nurse's Office.

Please report all transportation changes by 2:00 pm so we can make sure the students receive the updated information.

If you are sending checks in for fees or lunches, please make sure you write separate checks because they go into different accounts.

Please keep all toys at home unless a teacher has directed other wise. We want to make sure students are not distracted by their toys and we want to prevent lost toys.

All visitors must stop in the Main Office to receive a visitor's badge and all volunteers need to be fingerprinted.
