Welcome to the Kirtland Schools’ Key Communicator e-newsletter. We hope to use this tool as a two-way form of communication to share the good news going on in our classrooms, and also provide you with facts in the event of negative situations. We hope you will act as informal communications liaisons with the community and let us know what you’re hearing so we can proactively provide you with the facts of what’s happening in your schools. Thank you for your support!

Our Vision: Provide a personalized education for all students.

Our Mission: We educate students to be empowered citizens.

Chloe Hansen Signs Letter of Intent

A signing day took place in the Forum where Chloe Hansen signed her letter of intent to continue her education and track and field career at the University of Dayton. This great moment took place in front of her family, friends, staff and local media.

A three-year letter winner, Hansen was named first-team All-Chagrin Valley Conference and was a district finalist in the shot put and discus, and a regional qualifier in the discus. Last spring, Hansen was named the Field Events MVP for the CVC Valley Division and was named the team’s Co-MVP as well as a CVC athlete of the week.

Dr. VanArnhem added that we are all very proud of Chloe. He said that Dayton is not only getting a great athlete but an even better young lady and one of the nicest students he has ever worked with.

Coach Tiger LaVerde wins the NFHS (National) Coach of the Year Award

Kirtland High School head football coach Tiger LaVerde was named the 2023-24 National Football Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations. Of the 24 coaches to be named, LaVerde is the only coach from Ohio, in either boys or girls sports, to be recognized with this distinguished honor.

Dr. VanArnhem said, The wins and trophies are nice but what truly matters are the lifelong lessons Coach LaVerde has instilled in hundreds of young men and women over the years. He has taught them the importance of caring about something greater than themselves and that hard work is the key to success. Coach LaVerde is not only an amazing coach but also a better teacher, family man, and person. The students, staff, and community are extremely lucky to have him.”
