Hello KES Families,
Happy Sunday! Thank you for a successful full week at KES. Students have transitioned well and have started learning in their core subject areas, as teachers continue to teach and model the Hornet Traits. It was great seeing so many families at the football game on Friday. The Hornets beat Dalton 55-34. Way to go Hornets!
We will be running our annual Safety Drills this week, which will include fire, lockdown, evacuation, and situational ALICE drills. Beyond these drills, it is important that we incorporate the motto of “See Something, Say Something”. If you see something out of place or unsafe, please communicate to a school administrator or local law enforcement immediately. Additionally, Kirtland Local Schools is registered with a statewide anonymous tip line. Call or Text 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) 24/7 with any information on threats to school or student safety. We appreciate your help.
I will also be visiting the classrooms to speak about the Hornet Traits and our school-wide expectations over the next two weeks.
Please report all transportation changes by 2:00 pm so we can make sure the students receive the updated information.
If you are sending checks in for fees or lunches, please make sure you write separate checks because they go into different accounts.
Please keep all toys at home unless a teacher has directed other wise. We want to make sure students are not distracted by their toys and we want to prevent lost toys.
Students will complete their mClass & NWEA assessments this week to see where they are at in reading and math. Please make sure students are getting enough sleep each night and eating a healthy breakfast in the morning.
Pictures Day is on Thursday, September 29th. All students should have received an order form. If you did not, please let your child's teacher know.
There will be no school on Friday and Monday due to Teacher Professional Development & Labor Day.
All visitors must stop in the Main Office to receive a visitor's badge and all volunteers need to be fingerprinted.
Thank you to the PTA Moms for helping our Kindergarten students get to their classrooms safely during their first week. The first PTA meeting will be on September 10th at 7:00 PM at Tavern Six, please join us if you can.
Reminder that all students must be up-to-date on DTap, Polio, MMR, Hepatitis B and Varicella vaccines unless otherwise exempt for medical or personal reasons. According to the Ohio Department of Health, all students are required to be up-to-date on their vaccination status by the 15th day of the school year (Sept. 6th, 2024) to avoid being excluded from school. For all new students or those with an updated vaccination status since Kindergarten, please upload immunization records/exemption form to Final Forms or email to [email protected] . Exemption forms can be found on the school nurse webpage. If you have a scheduled appointment coming up, please let us know so we can document it.
Reminder to upload prescription and non-prescription medication consent forms to Final Forms or email a copy to [email protected] . Written consent from a parent/guardian must be given in order to administer over-the-counter medications including Motrin, Tylenol and throat lozenges. Both forms can be found under the medications tab in Final Forms or on the school nurse webpage.
