Hello KES Families,
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. It was great seeing staff and families at the Breast Cancer Walk this morning! The Kirtland Cheerleaders did a great job. This week at KES, we will be learning about Digital Citizenship. Its important to teach students how to be a good digital citizen. We will be using lessons from Common Sense to promote a healthy, balanced, and positive approach to media and tech use among young people. Below are the topics being studied throughout the week:
K-2 Students will learn how to be a good digital citizen, digital well-being, managing device distractions, & staying safe online.
3-5 Students will learn how to be a good digital citizen, media choices, device charter, media literacy, & cyberbullying.
We have a skating party at United Skates on Tuesday, October 15th. See the flyer below.
Picture retakes will occur on Friday, October 18th.

We will be starting a new Social Emotional Learning Program called Sources of Strength. The program will be used K-5 and Mrs. Filla, our school counselor will be facilitating the lessons with the teachers. The mission of Sources of Strength is to prevent adverse outcomes by increasing wellbeing, help-seeking, resiliency, healthy coping, and belonging.
Students are not allowed to bring phones and/or smart watches to school. They can be a distraction and we do not want anything misplaced or lost.
Conferences will be held on November 14th and 15th. Teachers will be sending out specific information on how to sign up in the next couple of weeks.
Please remember to update your information in Infinite Campus. We need to have current phone numbers in case of an emergency.
When students visit the nurse, an automated email will be sent to families to let them know when and why the student was in the Nurse's Office.
Please report all transportation changes by 2:00 pm so we can make sure the students receive the updated information.
If you are sending checks in for fees or lunches, please make sure you write separate checks because they go into different accounts.
Please keep all toys at home unless a teacher has directed other wise. We want to make sure students are not distracted by their toys and we want to prevent lost toys.
All visitors must stop in the Main Office to receive a visitor's badge and all volunteers need to be fingerprinted.
