Hello KES Families,
Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather! It was great seeing so many families at the skating party on Tuesday. This week we will focus on Fire Safety. Please remember to test your fire detectors monthly. Last week at KES, we learned about Digital Citizenship. Below are some really good activities you can do at home to promote good digital citizenship.
The third graders will be taking their first Ohio State Test in ELA on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure your third grader does the following things:
- Eat a healthy breakfast. Help children choose foods that fuel their bodies and brains to do their best work!
- Get a good night sleep. Having a consistent bed time every night brings structure and routine to a child’s day that helps them thrive. But on nights before a big test, getting to bed early, by 9:00 PM, is even more important! We want our students to be as rested and energized as possible for the big test. Also, make sure the child wakes up in the morning with plenty of time to get ready for school, so they don’t feel rushed. Anything we can do to limit students’ stress on test days is critical!
The weather outside is getting colder. We will be going outside as much as possible to get fresh air and to move around. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate outside attire. Students need to wear a coat, hat, and gloves during cooler weather.
If your child is sick, please keep them home so they can rest, get better, and not spread germs. Remind your child to wash their hands frequently to get rid of germs.
This month we are focusing on being "Open Minded". Students can wear orange on Tuesdays.

Students are not allowed to bring phones and/or smart watches to school. They can be a distraction and we do not want anything misplaced or lost.
Conferences will be held on November 14th and 15th. Teachers will be sending out specific information on how to sign up. There will be no school on November 15th due to conferences.
Please remember to update your information in Infinite Campus. We need to have current phone numbers in case of an emergency.
When students visit the nurse, an automated email will be sent to families to let them know when and why the student was in the Nurse's Office.
Please report all transportation changes by 2:00 pm so we can make sure the students receive the updated information.
If you are sending checks in for fees or lunches, please make sure you write separate checks because they go into different accounts.
Please keep all toys at home unless a teacher has directed other wise. We want to make sure students are not distracted by their toys and we want to prevent lost toys.
All visitors must stop in the Main Office to receive a visitor's badge and all volunteers need to be fingerprinted.
