Hello KES Families,

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and celebrating the Browns victory. Congratulations to our Hornet's football team for their big victory on Friday against Independence! Thank you to all the families who came out on Friday night to support our 10th Annual Walk-A-Thon! Everyone had a great time and we really appreciate the generous donations we have received so far. We are still accepting donations. Please go to the link attached below if you still want to donate. We are almost at our goal of $15,000. The top class will receive a pizza party! All funds will go directly to students.

Chik-fil-A STEAM Fundraiser will be tomorrow at Chik-fil-A in Willoughby from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm.

Please remember to update your information in Infinite Campus. We need to have current phone numbers in case of an emergency.

This week we will kickoff our "Start with Hello" Spirit Week.

Monday: Wear an article of clothing displaying something important about you or a favorite shirt.

Tuesday: Wear green shirts to show others we support the Start with Hello mission.

Wednesday: Wear mismatched clothes or socks!

Thursday: Wear a hat to show we think with our head before speaking and BE KIND!

Friday: Wear your HORNET GEAR or school colors!

The "Start with Hello" program is part of the Sandy Hook Promise initiative, designed to promote social inclusion and combat social isolation in schools and communities. The program's primary goal is to encourage students to reach out to others who may feel lonely or excluded. By teaching empathy, kindness, and inclusiveness, it aims to create more connected and welcoming environments where everyone feels valued.

Here are some key objectives of the program:

  1. Promote social connectedness: It helps students recognize when their peers might feel left out and empowers them to start conversations, make connections, and include others.

  2. Prevent social isolation: It addresses the harmful effects of social isolation, which can sometimes lead to bullying, anxiety, depression, and even violence.

  3. Create a positive school culture: By encouraging students to reach out to others with a simple greeting or conversation, it fosters a more inclusive and positive atmosphere in schools.

  4. Reduce potential violence: By promoting inclusivity and identifying students who feel isolated, the program aims to prevent extreme behaviors, such as violence, that can result from prolonged isolation and exclusion.

In essence, "Start with Hello" is about building a sense of community, ensuring that no one feels invisible, and encouraging students to actively make their environments more inclusive.

Homecoming Festivities will start on Friday, September 27, 2024. Community Tailgate from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in the KHS parking lot. Homecoming Parade at 5:15 on Chillicothe in front of the schools. Homecoming Football Game at 7:00 pm at Wilson Field. Please see the attached flyer about all the events.

Every Friday, we randomly select a few Hornet Ticket winners from K-5 to receive a prize for following the Hornet Traits! Check the newsletter each week for their names! The last Friday of every month, a student who has been an exceptional leader in demonstrating the Hornet Trait of the month will be selected by their homeroom teacher to sit at the VIP Hornet lunch table.

Congratulations to our Hornet Trait winners for the week!
