Update 3/25/21
Kirtland Local Schools Updates |
Hello Kirtland Families, As we head into Spring Break, I want to provide you some information and updates. Asynchronous learning will take place on Friday, March 26th as our staff receive their second vaccination shot. Students will not attend school in person. All of our students in grades 6-12 have participated in the “Ending the Silence for Students” program. NAMI will offer “Ending the Silence for Families” on Monday and Tuesday, April 12 and 13 at 6:00-7:00pm. Families/parents need only attend one 60 minute presentation. Registration is available at https://namilakecountyohio.org/ (in the right column, upcoming events) or by contacting [email protected]. (see the attachment at the bottom of the page) With the decrease in transmission and further research done around COVID-19, the guidelines continue to change. Our district will continue to adjust to best support learning while keeping safety in mind. Based on the latest guidelines from the CDC and our local health department (see links below), we will be removing the student shields from classrooms while students have on face coverings when we return from Spring Break. Both students and teachers have shared concerns that the shields are interfering with learning and instruction. They will still be used when students do not have on their masks while eating at lunch. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/schools-childcare/schools.html https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/p0319-new-evidence-classroom-physical-distance.html We will not have meal pickup over spring break in Kirtland. (March 31) You can pick meals up in Mentor on Wednesday March 31 at Memorial Middle School at 9:00-10:30 am and 12:00-1:00 pm or Shore Middle School 9:00-10:30 am and 12:00-1:00 pm. You do not need to sign up in adavance. The Kirtland Local Schools will be on the ballot on May 4th.
