Learning Modality Starting on January 11th

Hello Kirtland Families,

Based on my conversation with our health director, Ron Graham, his recommendation is to move to our hybrid model the week of January 11th.  The rationale is that the number of positive cases are still high but are coming down. (see attached data) These two weeks in hybrid will allow us to have students return to school while hopefully the numbers continue to decrease and keep them more safely spaced out.

So, we will commit to at least two weeks in the hybrid schedule from January 11-22 unless the county moves to purple or there is a spike in cases within our district.  I will continue to work with the health department to determine our learning modality starting the week of January 25th.

Principals will be sending out more specific information on the transition to hybrid including the schedules.

Moving forward while we are in the “all in” or “hybrid setting”,  I will only be communicating out if there are confirmed positive cases of students and staff in our district.  I will not be emailing everyone if there is someone in the district that had to quarantine because he or she was a close contact.

Please email me at chad.vanarnhem@kirtlandschools.org if your child has tested positive or in quarantine.  Also, if someone in your house is showing symptoms, is going to be tested and/or has tested positive, please do not send your child to school.

Thank you for your continued patience.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at chad.vanarnhem@kirtlandschools.org

Take care,

Chad VanArnhem
