After the pandemic caused the Kirtland Local Schools’ Preschool program to close for the past school year, they are excited to be able to again offer the Kirtland Local Schools’ Bright Beginnings Preschool starting in August 2021.
The Bright Beginnings Preschool provides a stimulating learning environment that enhances a child’s educational growth and success in a variety of areas including cognitive skills, critical thinking, language development, social and emotional skills, pre-reading and writing, math skills and more.
Kirtland residents may register their 3, 4, and 5 year-old children now until April 23. Non-residents may register their child starting March 23 until April 23. In order to save your child’s seat in the class, a fee of $100 is due at the time of registration. A birth certificate, driver’s license, enrollment form, proof of residency and deposit must be sent to Diana Simpson at the Kirtland Board of Education. The cost of the program for Kirtland residents is $1,830 per child and $2,000 per child for non-residents.
The preschool program runs from Monday through Thursday beginning at 8:45 a.m. and ending at 11:15 a.m. Children must be 3 years old by Sept. 1, 2021 and potty-trained by the first day of class in order to attend Bright Beginnings. The classroom structure itself encourages a child’s sense of self-confidence through a curriculum that requires a child to make decisions, explore, solve problems, be creative, and practice social skill development.
Parents will have the opportunity to meet with the classroom staff individually the week before preschool begins. Additionally, the Kirtland Schools’ Bright Beginnings Preschool staff will plan summer outings and get-togethers for both parents and children to meet before starting classes. Staff members will contact families after summer events are determined.
