Mrs. Nagaj's Message to KES Students and Families
November 20, 2020

Dear KES Families,

I would like to start by thanking all of you for your flexibility thus far as we have adjusted to many changes in our schedule, and prepare for yet another. I appreciate the resilience of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the hard work of the entire Kirtland family, as we have all worked together to provide an opportunity for students to learn in person and online.

I would like to share with you our Full Virtual Schedule as we quickly transition to this model beginning Monday, November 23, 2020. The student day will be from 8:45-3:45. While there are blocks built in for office hours in the afternoon, students will still either be meeting with teachers or working on assignments independently.

Virtual learning will look different than it did last spring. We are in a place where teachers have had professional development time to learn new strategies, plan for distance learning, implement various online learning procedures, and create learning management systems that support the variety of resources being used. Many teachers have already sent learning materials home in advance. Some may still need to do so, and we will work out a process for this in time.

We are asking for your support as we embark on another change in modality. Students have had practice logging in, finding assignments, completing and submitting work, and communicating with their teachers, so we are confident that they will be ready to get started on Monday.

Attendance will be taken every morning at 8:45 during Morning Meeting AND in the live instruction session each afternoon. The other instructional components of the morning and afternoon are outlined below.
The specials schedule is shared below, too. Specials teachers will be meeting with all classes in live sessions each scheduled period.

I do realize that another change in schedule brings adjustments having to be made at home. We appreciate your willingness to adapt with us and support our young Hornets as they learn from home! You will be receiving additional information from your child’s teacher regarding materials pick-up, if necessary.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me - [email protected]
Have a nice weekend!
