Kirtland Local Schools
COVID-19

Hello Kirtland Families,

We were made aware today that a student at KES has been put in quarantine because a parent in the household has tested positive for COVID-19. We were also made aware that siblings at KES and KHS were exposed to a family member that tested positive today.  Parents that have students in these elementary classrooms were sent an email today. The teacher and students in these classrooms did not need to quarantine because they are all contacts of a contact.

We found out that we had an elementary student that tested positive today.  Based on the timeline and this student not being in the class, the health department confirmed that no other students or the teacher would need to quarantine.

One of our students that was in quarantine in middle school after a parent tested positive developed symptoms and was “presumed positive”.   This student was not in school so others do not need to quarantine.

Thank you to all that are being very proactive and not sending children to school when a parent or family member has been exposed and/or is going to be tested.  This has helped avoid exposure and quarantines of others!

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at chad.vanarnhem@kirtlandschools.org.

Take care,

Chad VanArnhem, Superintendent
