KIRTLAND LOCAL SCHOOLS UPDATE 12/14/21At the Board of Education meeting on December 13, Mrs. Nagaj and Mr. VanArnhem recognized and congratulated Mr. Pat DiCarlo on his retirement. The Board and Mr. VanArnhem also thanked Mrs. Kathryn Talty for her service and dedication serving on the Board of Education for the past four years. In the Superintendent Report, Mr. VanArnhem shared that there are so many amazing things taking place inside and outside of the classrooms. The choirs and bands had concerts over the past few weeks, our winter sports have started and the fifth grade performed a play. (A year ago, we were learning remotely and many activities were not taking place.) Mr. VanArnhem also thanked all the employees in the district that have stepped up to cover staffing shortages. The collective effort by all has helped ensure that schools have continued to stay open and run well. The Board of Education did their second reading on the proposed calendar for the 2022-2023 school year and voted to approve it. The calendar can be found on our website at: 22-23 School Calendar. Updates were added to the COVID-19 protocols in the Return to School Plan. Volunteers will be welcome again in classrooms. Also, following the guidance of the Lake County General Health District, students will not have to quarantine up to one year after testing positive if they remain symptom free after an exposure to someone with COVID-19. The exact details are highlighted and can be found here: Update to Return to School Plan
