COVID-19 Reporting

Hello Kirtland Families,

I hope that everyone is doing well!  I ask that you please continue to complete the COVID-19 Google Form, even over winter break, if your child is a "close contact" or tested positive for COVID-19.  This will help us communicate timelines when it is okay to return to school and/or extracurricular activities.  The form also helps establish the one year exemption, in most cases, from quarantine after testing positive- see the details below.  Here is the link on our website to report: https://forms.gle/kC8SiqcUpN89mPSu9

We have recently updated the district's COVID-19 protocols based on the guidance of our health department that states: The LCGHD recommends that for school aged children that have had a documented COVID-19 illness and have recovered can continue to attend school in case of a subsequent exposure to COVID-19 in the community/school setting for the next 12 months after their COVID-19 illness. However, they should take the following precautions in case of a subsequent exposure:

• Wear a mask indoors for 14 days after exposure.

• Monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and isolate immediately if symptoms develop.

• Consult with a healthcare professional for testing recommendations if new symptoms develop.

This recommendation only applies to children who had a mild COVID-19 illness and did not require hospitalization for their COVID-19 illness. The recommended quarantine exemption for hospitalized cases is still 3 months.

Thanks for your help and support,

Chad VanArnhem
