??Hello KES Families,

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. The weather looks like it is going to be warmer this week. We will be going outside, so please make sure your child has the proper attire.

The PTA Spring Fundraiser is March 15th at St. Noels. This is a very important fundraiser for the PTA because all of the proceeds benefit students in K-12 that attend Kirtland Local Schools. Please see the flyer below with all the details. Lets show our support for this great cause.

Attention all third, fourth, and fifth grade parents: Rollerblading in PE starts the week of March 3. Students will need to bring in their own bike helmet. Rollerblades are provided. Students can bring in their own roller skates or blades if they want. Students will be skating for the month of March. Any questions, please email mary.grdadolnik@kirtlandschools.org.

The Girls Volleyball League for Grades 4-6 will be starting in March. You must register by March 3rd to participate. Please see the updated flyer below to learn how to register.

We are hiring a long term Lunch Monitor Sub and a Latch Key Assistant, please let me know if you are interested.

Grades 3-5 will be taking their Ohio State Tests (OST) on the following dates:

ELA- April 15 & 16

Science April 23 & 24

Math April 29 & 30

Students taking the OST would benefit from using a mouse. Please send in a mouse for your child's Chromebook as soon as possible so students can start practicing.

Last week, we completed the Kid Heart Challenge. Many students completed the Finn Challenge. Our goal was to raise $5000.00 and I am very proud to say that we raised over $5800. Congratulations to Mrs. Brown's 1st grade class for raising the most money. They raised over $700. I would also like to congratulate Miles D and Lucy H for raising the most money.

Registration for Kindergarten is now open for the 2025-2026 school year. Please click the link below to learn more and express your interest in our Kindergarten program.

We received a call from the Visitor's Center about families parking in their lot to drop off and pick up students after school. Please do not park in their lot. There is a lot of traffic flow during arrival and dismissal and we do not want to create an unsafe situation. We appreciate your cooperation in the matter and want to keep all kids safe.

The "Just Run" program will be starting in April for students in Grades 3-5. More information will be sent out to families next week.

Our Hornet Trait focus for February is being Respectful. Students should wear purple on Tuesdays. Please see Mrs. Filla's PBIS flyer below.

The weather outside is getting colder. We will be going outside as much as possible to get fresh air and to move around. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate outside attire. Students need to wear a coat, hat, gloves, and boots during the winter months.

If your child is sick, please keep them home so they can rest, get better, and not spread germs. If students go home sick with a fever or throwing up, they must stay home for 24 hours to make sure they are fully recovered. Please remind your child to wash their hands frequently to help reduce germs. I am also suggesting that students use hand sanitizers before they eat their lunches.

Students are not allowed to bring phones and/or smart watches to school. They can be a distraction and we do not want anything misplaced or lost.

When students visit the nurse, an automated email will be sent to families to let them know when and why the student was in the Nurse's Office.

Please report all transportation changes by 2:00 pm so we can make sure the students receive the updated information.

If you are sending checks in for fees or lunches, please make sure you write separate checks because they go into different accounts.

Please keep all toys at home unless a teacher has directed other wise. We want to make sure students are not distracted by their toys and we want to prevent lost toys.

All visitors must stop in the Main Office to receive a visitor's badge and all volunteers need to be fingerprinted.
