Kirtland Local Schools Dear Parents and Community Members, The Kirtland Board of Education unanimously voted to approve all-day Kindergarten for the 2013-14 school year. On April 10, 2013, Mrs. Moran, Mr. Willis and I met with about 40 parents to discuss the new Common Core State Standards and the rigor they will bring to Kindergarten classrooms. The district has identified cost efficiencies in other areas to pay for all-day Kindergarten and will operate within a balanced budget. We acknowledged that the new expectations for Kindergarten made a half-day program untenable. We would like to thank parents who gave us their thoughts and ideas about all-day kindergarten. Your input was a very important factor in our decision-making process. Click this link to view our Kindergarten Common Core Presentation. Sincerely, Steve Barrett Superintendent Kirtland Track Athletes Excel Congratulations to the Kirtland High School Boys and Girls Track and Field teams on their outstanding finishes in the CVC this year.
