Academic Challenge Team Wins!!!
Congratulations to Mrs. Melfi and the Academic Challenge team for defeating Western Reserve and Loudonville yesterday afternoon. Representing the Hornets were Daniel Heimsoth, Jack Jontz and Naveen Makaar. Also attending were alternates Rachel Bramley, Lauren Covetta, Lauren Grdina, and Bradley Hauptman. Regional competition is ongoing, but the team currently holds first place. Please stay tuned for final results and TV broadcast times.

College Planning Night on October 12
KHS Guidance and LEAF will be holding their annual College Planning Night on October 12th at 7:00pm in The Forum for senior students and their parents (juniors are also welcome for early planning!!). Topics that will be discussed include senior year timeline, college application process, Common App, Naviance, a short introduction to Financial Aid, and more! This is an exciting time of year for your students, we hope to see you there!!
O.P.E.N Presents: Referring your Child for a Multi-Factored Evaluation
This O.P.E.N. (Organized Parent Education Network) workshop will focus on navigating the process of referring your child for a multi-factored evaluation. Topics discussed will be testing, how a child qualifies for special education services, understanding an IEP, understanding services that are appropriate, and the Least Restrictive Environment. Please join the Kirtland Schools’ Director of Pupil Services, School Psychologist, and Family Resource Coordinator as we provide guidance through suspecting a disability, referring child for testing and special education identification and services on: October 22, 2015 from 6:00-7:00 In the Kirtland Middle School Forum.
