Kirtland PTA Welcome Letter, 2020-2021

We are looking forward to another great year!! Please read our welcome letter attached and become a PTA member today!

Free Breakfast and Lunch

The USDA is offering free breakfast and lunch to all students, not just free or reduced students. This will start Tuesday, September 8 and go through December 31st.  Everything will be the same in the lunch room except the students won't be charged. They are only allowed one lunch and one breakfast for free. (KHS and KMS only serve breakfast). Ala Carte and a second lunch will be charged.  We will also be offering meal pick up once per week for online students. They will receive five lunches and five breakfasts for the week per child. Pick up will be every Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.  If you have any questions or concerns please email Ginni Vaccaro at

Kindergarten Registration 2020
The May 15th Kindergarten Registration has been postponed.  A new registration date will be coming in the future; it will likely be close to the start of the school year.  If you have a child that will entering kindergarten next school year and have not registered him or her, please follow the following steps:

Ohio PTA Reflections Winners

Congratulations to KES student Kevin Urbanick who received Honorable Mention for his Reflections submission (Photography, Grades 3-5) from the Ohio PTA!! Click on the link above for a full list of Ohio winners. Thank you to all who participated.

Ohio House Bill 197

The Ohio Legislature passed House Bill 197. It effectively:

  • Eliminates state and federal testing, and State Report Cards, for the 2019-2020 school year;

  • Freezes EdChoice eligibility at the 2019-2020 list of 517 buildings;

  • Waives the Third Grade Reading Guarantee retention requirements;

  • Permits schools to grant high school diplomas to students on track to graduate and who have successfully completed the curriculum;

  • Allows special education services to be provided through electronic means;

  • Permits schools to use distance learning to meet minimum instructional hour requirements.


Free and Reduced Lunch Program (updated 5/18/2020)

We will continue to offer grab-and-go style breakfasts and lunches for our families with children in the Free and Reduced lunch program through Monday, June 1.   

Beginning June 8, students will be able to receive food on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. on the north side of Mentor High School Fine Arts Center.
